A countertop RO system can be useful for point-of-use drinking water, especially in rentals or kitchens where plumbing changes are not possible. It still does not provide whole-home scale control.

Is remineralization necessary after RO?

Remineralization is optional for most users and is mainly a matter of taste preference and system design. Some people prefer mineral-enhanced RO water, while others prefer standard low-mineral RO water.
